Notary NY is a service of NY Office, and is offered under our terms and conditions. The information provided on Notary-NY.com and its agent is not intended to be legal advice, but merely conveys general information related to notarial services. We do not offer a "Certified Copy" service, as New York law does not authorize a Notary Public to make a certified copy of a document. However, we do offer a "Copy Certification by Document Custodian" service, which in some government bodies is an acceptable alternative, and can be legalized by having the signature of the Notary Public "authenticated" in any of the counties our Notary is either established or qualified in and complete the Apostille process with the New York State Department of State. Sometimes the Biblical terms "Apostle" or "Postil", are confused with the legal terms. Currently, our Notaries are established and/or qualified in Albany County, Bronx County (Borough of the Bronx), Kings County (Brooklyn Borough), Orange County, Nassau County, New York County (Manhattan Borough), Putnam County, Queens County, Richmond County (Staten Island Borough), Rockland County, and Suffolk County. Not all of our Notaries are established and/or qualified in all counties. Upon request, our notaries can be established or qualified in additional counties in New York State. As we are not licensed to practice law, we cannot perform legal services or offer legal advice of any kind. We are not an adoption agency or a law firm. Please note that the powers and duites of a Notary in New York in the United States in general and New York specifically maybe different that those of notaries elsewhere around the world. In many south American and European Counties, Notaries have powers and authority similarly to that of Attorneys, Lawyers, Barristers, and Solicitors. In some counties, such as China, Notaries are responsible for verifying the accuracies and and truthfulness of statements in documents. Generally speaking, the powers of an American Notary are far more limited. The Spanish phrase "Notaría Pública", while similar to the English phrase "Notary Public", are not interchangeable terms, as South American Notaría Pública have more powers and duties than their American counterparts.
